Blu-ray vs. HD DVD
Today, Warner annouced that they would be backing the Blu-ray discs as the next generation for their movies. That now makes three big studios who are supporting Sony's hardware compared to two for HD DVD and this news is even more favourable to Blu-ray because Warner used to release films on both formats.
It seems the PS3 will now have the industry standard movie player like PS2 did back when DVDs were released.

Re: Blu-ray vs. HD DVD
You know another reason why I think Blu-ray is winning over HD DVD? It's because Sony have intergrated it into the PS3 and so people will think rather than buying a stand alone player, they could just get a PS3 which does a lot more for similar money.
I was wondering why Sony hadn't managed to release a larger number of memorable titles in the year the console was launched. They are using the PS3 to help win the fight for Blu-ray. They can't let Blu-ray fail otherwise a fundamental part of PS3 would have out of date and useless technology.
Maybe now that Warner has signed up to Blu-ray, PlayStation fans can now have Gran Turismo 5 please.

I never liked Sony anyway! The best game I ever played on a Playstation was Ratchet and Clank. I think to just piss them off, Nintendo should launch a console that plays DVDs at a more effiention rate!

If Nintendo adds a DVD player fuction, that'll mean an end to their spimple designs. To me that has always seemed a main selling point of Nintendo consoles, it'll do less than others but that means less will go wrong, and it'll cheaper.
